Sea World

After a successful visit to UCLA (Emma doesn't have to go back for a year), we headed toward San Diego. We had lunch with Grandpa Les in Fallbrook and then arrived at our hotel. The next day, we took the kids to Sea World for the first time. Here are a few shots from our day there. We enjoyed the Shamu show, dolphin show, Pets Rule!, and Cirque de la Mer shows. The kids also enjoyed touchpools, the "water" bounce area where they practiced "dives," interactive water fountains, penguins, and shark exhibit.

San Diego

We stayed at the Manchester Hyatt in San Diego which had incredible views of the city and bay from our room on the 29th floor. One highlight of our trip was watching a youth production of Winnie the Pooh at the El Prado Theater at Balboa Park. Here is a shot of Emma with "Pooh."

Seaport Village

These are some shots from our dinner at Seaport Village. We ate at Longboard's restaurant (Is that a dunce cap on Caden?) and enjoyed throwing pennnies in the fountain. Emma was enthralled by the Cinderella carriages we saw.

We're pooped!

We had tons of fun in San Diego, but Emma and Caden were thrilled to be home. They could not wait to sleep in their own beds and are dreading our next trip which is only 2 days away! We are driving to San Jose and flying to Tennessee. Thankfully Nonnie and Poppy are already planning their bag of tricks for the plane.

Happy 4th of July!

We started our day with our traditional parade watching in Templeton. Then we headed to the Kon Tiki hotel in Pismo where we hung out in the pool and ate pizza. This was followed by our traditional dessert of angel food cake and strawberries. Unfortunately, our primo fireworks view was foiled by fog! We were bummed!

Swimming Lessons

Caden and Emma are both taking lessons this summer from "Mrs. Jana," Caden's soon-to-be preschool teacher. They are learning a lot and gaining confidence to swim. Now, if we only had a pool for them to practice in....

Vacation Bible School

We went on a wild ride through God's word at VBS this year. I was crazy enough to be one of the Kindergarten teachers which was exhausting! 50 kids is too many to keep track of! Caden enjoying being on the Praising Ponies team while Emma was part of the Giddy Up Gang. At the end of the week, the 300 kids did a performance highlighting their songs and verses. It was a great week!

Last Day of School Parties

Emma and Caden's end of the year parties were both on the same day, so we crashed both. Caden's was at a park with water features and Emma's included water slides, squirt guns, popsicles, and face painting. Caden is looking forward to starting at Little Ark this fall. They are in for some excitement!

Emma Graduates from Preschool!

On May 31st, Emma graduated from Little Ark Preschool. The kids sang several songs and got their official certificates. Emma decided one song made her sad, so she refused to sing the song or the one before it since she was already getting choked up.

Morro Bay Field Trip

This was Emma's last field trip for preschool and the first one I was able to go on. The kids had a ball finding creatures in the tidepools. Then they toured 2 coast guard boats and played on the playground.

A Princess, An Elf, and Handsome Prince

I am very behind on my posts due to our kitchen remodel, which I am still not ready to reveal, so this dates back to the beginning of June. Grandma Peggy came for a quick trip with some new costumes in hand and a play script in hand. Emma and Caden practiced for the performance, which involved no lines, simply acting, with Grandma narrating. Although stage fright got the best of them, I still got some fun pictures. The best part was the last scene, when Emma surprised me by wearing my wedding dress!
