Plaskett Creek Camping Trip

We went for a 3 night camping trip with 2 other familes from our community group at church. It is a great spot, an hour and a half north of us on Hwy 1. Some of our activities at camp included chasing gophers, beading, climbing huge trees, playing board games, and roasting marshmallows on the stove (no campfires allowed:( ).

Plaskett Creek Pics Part 2

We had a great time playing at the beach both days. We took Jake and Daisy on the trip and it was their first time to the beach. Jake entertained us for hours by fetching sticks out of the water. Caden suited up in the size 8 wetsuit, but decided it was way to cold to stay in the water.

Kitchen Before

This is what our kitchen looked like before. We had terrible checkered linoleum that was torn. We were happy to replace the oak with alder and add the bar so the kids can chat with me while I cook.

Kitchen Demolition!

Jeff had the not so fun job of getting our old linoleum out, along with the wood underneath. Our neighbor Matt helped tear out the old cabinets. What a mess! This began the four week stretch of cooking on the barbeque, washing dishes outside, and getting food out of the fridge in the middle of the living room.

Kitchen in Progress

Here are a few shots along the way. Jeff and my Dad did tons of the work, moving electrical, installing new lights, moving the water line for the fridge to a different wall, etc. Jeff built all of the beautiful cabinets and helped his friend install the floor.

Kitchen Accomplished!

Here are the final kitchen pictures...about 2 1/2 months later. We love it! (Someday we hope to replace the white dishwasher. We can't quite justify it yet!!!)

A Visit From T.T. and Grandpa Les

Steph (aka T.T. or Jeff's sister) and Les did a 22 hour turn around trip to our house. We enjoyed getting pedicures and shopping while Jeff and Les hung the rest of the kitchen cabinet doors and installed the moulding. We couldn't have done our remodel without him!

Mommy and Me

Emma, Caden, and I had a great time doing a Mommy and Me class together this summer. We enjoyed messy art, outdoor play, songs, snacks, stories, and free time. The last day we played with shaving cream and made ice cream by kicking coffee cans around with the ingredients inside.

Friends

We haven't been home much this summer, but enjoyed getting to see Kai and Marin Wessel who visited from South Carolina, as well as playing on our homemade waterslide with buddies Noah and Gabe Carlisle.

Summer Fun

We had to test out the new Little Mermaid waterslide as soon as we brought it home!

Music in the Park

One of our favorite summer activities is going to Music in the Park on Tuesday nights. The kids and I sit at the front, but Emma and Caden prefer sitting very close or standing next to the instruments. Caden called my Aunt Becky, a trombonist, to ask her to get a trombone for him so he could play it it in the band. I think this was inspired by the 9 or 10 year old boy he was watching play the trombone.

Tennessee

We spent a week in Memhis, Tennessee for my grandpa's memorial service. We stayed with my brother Kent and enjoyed seeing all of our aunts, my uncle, and almost all of our cousins, along with my brother and sister.

It's All Fun and Games....

A large part of our time at "The Farm" was spent playing outdoor games: glow in the dark frisbee, Aerobie, badminton, and ping pong. Notice the Aerobie's favorite landing spots. I'm not sure if the guys spent more time catching it, or getting it unstuck.
